Wandering and Whimsical

A rain garden installation featuring a spiral path winding around the property.

This project began as an effort to manage stormwater draining into the client’s backyard. Rain gardens are a beautiful and extremely valuable tool to mitigate runoff issues because plants soak up lots of water. These plants will also offer important resources for insects, birds, mammals, and more!

In addition to the rain garden, Feather and Fern built an 80-foot pathway winding through existing gardens and around new ones!

After

This project was all about the details! The team carefully planned the rain garden planting layout. The type of flower color, bloom time, and height of the species were considered. Using these characteristics, Feather and Fern created a dynamic, flowing garden that boasts an array of colors throughout the growing season.

The photos below showcase the garden and pathway installation in its first summer.
